What is it?
Laser vision correction surgery, such as LASIK and other similar treatments, has made huge advancements in recent years and has grown in popularity thanks to its safe, effective approach. Laser vision surgery is no longer feared as a procedure that may cause pain or is experimental, but one that can restore vision and change a person's life in a matter of minutes. Laser vision procedures can eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses and allow a person to have crystal clear vision for years. Board-certified ophthalmologist Dr. Stephen Wilmarth has over 35 years of experience in assessing the eye to determine if laser vision correction is an option for treatment, as well as many years of experience performing laser treatments such as LASIK. If patients are considering permanent vision correction, it’s important to see an experienced LASIK surgeon. Please call Wilmarth Eye and Laser Center in Roseville, CA today to receive a complimentary consultation.
Objective of the Procedure
Overall, the objective of laser vision correction is to restore a person's eyesight to the highest level possible and eliminate the need for corrective lenses. Before receiving treatment, Dr. Wilmarth will first determine the overall health of the eye and check for diseases, infections, or other conditions, as well as measure the thickness of the cornea and discuss any previous surgeries or eye operations. Issues found will be treated prior to performing any kind of laser procedure. Patients must also be over 18 years of age and possess stable vision for at least a year prior to the treatment. Laser vision correction addresses these specific issues that are common among patients who wear glasses and contact lenses:
- Nearsightedness (myopia)
- Farsightedness (hyperopia)
- Loss of near vision with age (presbyopia)
"The staff was extremely professional and exceeded every expectation I had. I’ve worn glasses for ten years and now have 20/10 vision. I would highly recommend them to anyone who has ever thought about getting the procedure done."- T.B. / Facebook / Mar 12, 2018
"My wife had 20/650 vision in one eye, and 20/750 in the other. We went in for evaluation, and Dr. Wilmarth recommended we start with an ICL procedure, and then "fine-tune" that with Lasik if necessary. His entire staff demonstrated the highest levels of professionalism and kindness. Colette in particular was a joy to work with. Throughout the entire process the communication was clear, thorough, kind, and timely. My wife now has 20/20 vision and she couldn't be happier. If you are considering an eye procedure, this is the place to get it done. Everything from the professionalism of the staff, to the human kindness, to the results were 5/5 star. Bravo, team, bravo!"- D.C. / Yelp / Mar 08, 2019
"I was severely farsighted and have worn glasses since the second grade. At 71 Dr. Wilmarh recommended cataract lens replacement surgery using Toric lenses. I just left his office for a follow-up appointment and my vision is 20/20 in both eyes. No more glasses. He is amazing and makes you feel secure in his recommendation. My experience through the whole process was top notch - Dr. Wilmarth called the night before the procedure - the surgical center called before and after my procedure and follow-up with Dr. Wilmarth was immediate. His staff is so helpful. I can't thank him enough, this has changed my life."- G.C. / Yelp / Jan 30, 2019
"I just recently had the ICL lens inserted into both of my eyes. I couldn't be happier. I have been in glasses/contacts since 6th grade (now in my 40's) and my vision was -10 and -11. Dr. Wilmarth was so knowledgable, professional and kind. He talked to me through the whole procedure and let me know what he was doing which calmed my nerves. His staff was incredible and Colleen was so quick to return my calls and answer my questions. I highly recommend Dr. Wilmarth and this is one of the best decisions I have made."- J.H. / Yelp / Sep 13, 2018
"The BEST money I have ever spent. Doctor Wilmarth and all of his staff are excellent at answering any and all questions and sorting out any confusions you may have. Before my surgery my vision was 20/70 in one eye and 20/60 in the other. Now I'm seeing 20/15, which means I see as clearly at 20 feet as someone with "normal" vision sees at 15 feet. I highly recommend a visit to Doctor Wilmarth if you are tired of glasses and/or contacts."- G.W. / Google / Jun 15, 2018
