Lasik Myths Pt. 2

There are many misconceptions about LASIK surgery. Some of them may be preventing you from improving your vision with LASIK. At Wilmarth Eye, we want to dispel the myths and let you decide whether LASIK is right for you.

Myth: Recovery from LASIK takes a long time.

Fact: LASIK recovery is actually a very quick process. You will notice an improvement in your vision within a few hours, and you should be able to return to work and normal activities the day after surgery.

Myth: The technology is new and experimental.

Fact: Laser Vision Correction was approved by the FDA more than 20 years ago. Millions of patients have had their sight improved by LASIK. Dr. Stephen Wilmarth has over 20 years of experience as an eye surgeon. He and his staff use their experience and the latest technology to correct your vision.

Myth: LASIK surgery doesn't treat astigmatism.

Fact: Laser Vision Correction is an outstanding choice to correct astigmatism.  Most LASIK corrections include astigmatism so it is a routine part of treatment.  Early on, the FDA had not approved lasers specifically for correcting astigmatisms, which is probably how this myth got started. But LASIK surgery can correct each type of refractive error: nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

If you are in the Greater Sacramento area and considering LASIK surgery, please contact Wilmarth Eye to schedule your consultation. We frequently serve patients from the entire metropolitan area including Folsom, Rocklin, and Auburn.
