Recovery from LASIK
It may take a few days to recover from LASIK, but for the most part, LASIK recovery is painless and relatively fast. Many patients notice a marked improvement in the clarity of their vision right away, although it may take a few days for your eyes to adapt and your vision to clear. Some of the side effects you may experience as you recover are:
-
Gritty or scratchy sensation in your eyes
-
Glare and halos around light
-
Fluctuations in the clarity of your vision
You'll be provided with after-care instructions by Dr. Wilmarth, and we'll make sure you have the information you need before you go home after your LASIK surgery.
These side effects are common and should resolve as your eyes heal over the next several days. Most would be surprised to know that recovery from LASIK usually takes 3 to 6 months. Daytime vision usually improves dramatically during the first week after surgery. Clear night time vision is that last to clear up and involves adaptations that the brain makes to sharpen the vision.
If you are concerned at any point in your recovery, you can contact Dr. Wilmarth's office. We are here to support you throughout the LASIK process, from your first consultation to your last follow-up appointment and beyond. Dr. Wilmarth and our entire team want to help you achieve your best vision.
